Most people who remember me from HS, would remember me as a drummer. However, Rick and I spent years together - both band concerts and marches - playing the sousaphones. It ended up being an unusual basis for our friendship. He was a good friend, and I mourn his passing.

Ricky grew up on the southwest corner of Central Park block in a home that was later town down. He was the oldest child in the family. His siblings are Randy, Lois, John and Lujean. Ricky's obituary didn't mention them but I think they all survive him.

Rick and I attended Wilson school together. He would pay me two pennies to pump him home on the back of my bicycle.  I would go to his house sometimes and hang out with him. I remember being at his house and he was learning to play the accordion and would play it for me. After high school we both worked together at Haston's  Farm machinery in Nimbley as welders. Rick was a hard worker there.  I also mourn his loss.
